Happy Easter!

I am way behind on blog posts here. I tend to post way more to Tumblr, not sure why...

Anyway, Happy Easter!

Perhaps this is a sequel to last year? Part on me thinks I may have been one of those bunny drawing monks in a past life…

By the way, Cash Kat is out! I will do a more formal post soon!

Happy Easter! Bunnies and Painted Monasteries

Cherry blossoms and bunnies... 'Tis the season
I do plan to paint this image, but do to finishing my next book, it will probably be by the Eastern Orthodox Easter.

Speaking of which, this is a good time to post some of the amazing art at the pained Monasteries in Romania.

Not only are there the ones dating back to the 1400s, but they are building new ones! Such a fascinating art form. It was nice to see the artist credits on the new ones.

Growing up catholic, it is interesting to see parallel but different imagery.

All of the Judgement Day paintings have the people being 'reconstituted', even if devoured by wild beasts. Such delightful imagery!
My monastery sketches and more of my write ups are here.

A Little Easter Sketch

Deep conversations...
Although I am paying due penance for taking a vacation in the form of a mountain of deadlines, I sneaked out this little Easter doodle.

The titmouse and bunny are discussing how long it will be until we see those darn cherry blossoms...

Another Easter Doodle

Easter in the Year of the Dragon the sequel. Perhaps he came out of the egg Game of Thrones style show from the earlier the bunny pic...

Easter in The Year of the Dragon

Easter in the Year of the Dragon...  Not sure why I added the wings... I think for more dragon feel but they had to be furry.

Easter Egg Goodness

This was from Scholastic magazine Lets Find Out several years ago in their April issue. I like the little octopus the best.

The challenge was making them look appealing for 5 year olds and not creepy.

More Spring Celebration!

Here are my spring e-mailers this year. Above is the style I plan to use for my graphic nover version of Six Swans and below is a spring painting. I kind of love painting bluebirds. I hope to and photograph some this summer when biking!

On the top picture, I snuck in a pysanka egg. I am learning to make them from my friends Theresa and Paula. They are really good at it-I have a long way to go...
