Sketching in Missouri

 We went to visit our good friends in Springfield, MO mid-June. Did a bit of sketching and went to an amazing wildlife preserve where you feed animals for your car and get drooled on by them.

My friend Ioana plans to take a sabbatical in Romania next year. I hope to visit her there for a couple weeks to sketch. We have not seen the country since 1998 when we were in their wedding. I am sure Bucharest has really changed.

Leave it to me, I can find a castle anywhere... This one is in Fordland, MO

In preparing for our journal workshop, many of the books about making journals have lovely cat studies so I decided to do some of my cats. 

Yes, Boris really looks like this. He is almost 17 and has been shaved because his fur gets severely matted. It gives him an odd appearance. He has a huge head and a little old man body underneath. Great for sketching cat anatomy...You can see every bone and muscle.

Commissioned Portrait: Lisa's Cats

I do not often do many personal commissions but I recently did a portrait of my friend Lisa's four cats: Nigel, Elizabeth, Amadeus and Nathan. They are two pairs of litter mates as you can probably tell from the family resemblance.

I just got to meet the kitties on Friday. Very sweet. Nigel and Nathan seemed the most outgoing bit Amadeus warmed up a little at the end though. I just saw a peek of Elizabeth. I am told she is her mamma's kitty.
