Demo for March 2024 Issue of Drawing Attention

I did a demo for the Urban Sketchers quarterly magazine Drawing Attention!

It was an excuse to spend an afternoon sketching at Findlay Market. We met the woman installing the Pompeii exhibit at the Museum Center.

Solo Show at University of Cincinnati Clermont College

I have a solo show opening on Monday!

Here is an article about My Sketching Obsession show.

It mostly covers my sketches done at my Artist Residency at Chateau d'Orquevaux. I also have included some other travel sketchbooks as well.

Postcard From the Exhibit

Postcard Back

I had been invited to show my work before the residency so I created work I could frame. Usually, it is hard to do a show about sketching because all the work is in sketchbooks and they need to be printed for the most part so you do not have to cut them out of the book.

I worked in four sketchbooks during the residency in addition to painting almost 20 images on watercolor paper I purchased in France.

In addition to the reception in February, we are planning another evening to share the show and meet the artist.

Urban Sketching for Teens Workshop

I am doing an urban sketching workshop on April 30th for teens.

The Cincinnati Art Club is having an Urban Sketching Workshop for Junior and Senior High School students. The workshop is in conjunction with a four-day event featuring Cincinnati Master artists from the past and present. Urban Sketching can ignite a love for the place where you live and begin a practice that could put you on the road to mastery.

The workshop will be led by Christina Wald, a professional children’s book illustrator, who also teaches Illustration at the college level and is a leading member of the Urban Sketchers of Cincinnati. She will facilitate a 10:00-3:00 workshop on April 30th at the Cincinnati Art Club https://cincinnatiartclub.org/

If you are interested or would like more information, email Christine Kuhr at ckuhr1522@yahoo.com Sponsored by Cincinnati Art Club members and the Ohio Arts Council.

USk Sketch Together

USk Sketch Together was a world sketching event on October 18th that started in New Zealand, went through Asia, Europe, and ended up in the Americas. The event was 24 hours and each world Zone had an hour-long Instagram LIVE interviewing chapters.

I hosted the Americas and interviewed urban sketchers from Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Florida, and Las Vegas. The interview is now on YouTube.

It was so fun seeing the different chapters show off their sketches! Check out all the sketches at the hashtag and see the urban sketching global family!

It was pretty cool! https://youtu.be/EazxqAT1mCI

Sketch Diary: Light Grey Art Lab Residency And Norway!

My interpretation of a Huldra, a type of siren in Norweigian folklore

I recently went on Light Grey Art Lab's Norway residency at part of Team Huldra. It was an amazing experience and an excuse to meet a bunch of wonderful creatives.

After the residency, my mom and cousins met me in Bergen for more exploration.

When I got back, I thought I did not do much sketching until I counted them. I did 32 sketches over 17 days!
