Sketching at the Newport Aquarium

Poor 80 year old Bravo seemed a little overwhelmed as the exhibit got busier and busier and hid in the corner for a while. He eventually moved into a better sketching pose.

Some sketches from Friday’s Newport Aquarium visit with Amy, Linda and Julie including the new turtle exhibit featuring Bravo the Galapagos turtle.

Easing Very, Very Slowly into Spring

Sketching before seeing Wicked
Although spring is arriving in a sluggish fashion, it has been nice enough to get out here an there. Here are a couple outings. The church next to Washington Park has the wrong date. My desire to move things along was expressed by writing a 4 instead of a 3 on the date. It felt like April that day.

March 14th, not so much... It was WINDY with less sun than I would like when it is in the 50s.

Birthday Card 2014

The rare Angleroar Sea Dragon… I drew it for my nephew’s (belated) birthday card. I usually draw a dragon, but since he was just snorkeling on vacation, I went under the sea.

Sketch Outing at Newport Aquarium

I love the wobbegong!

I went with Amy, Vanessa and Monica for an afternoon of sketching at Newport Aquarium.

Checkout their AMAZING sketches and photos here and here.

They are in the middle of a reconstruction so I am looking forward to their next phase. I love the shark rays. They two are named after my and Vanessa's cats (Spike and Sunshine).

Wishing for Spring

I did this sketch a couple days ago. It looks like it will have the opposite effect of bringing on spring weather...
