Sketching Visit to Raptor Inc.

My name is Earl... The initial owners of this bird though she was a he.
My friend Kelly and I have been talking about going to Raptor, Inc where she volunteers for a long time. I have been so busy that it was very difficult to coordinate.

Finally, we were able to get together a couple weeks ago.

It is a wonderful facility. I really enjoyed taking in all the birds there. Sylvester, the Great Horned Owl and Earl, the Turkey Vulture were my particular favorites.

I did some quick ink studies there (it was a little too cold for me to paint outside) and did some watercolor/acrylic sketches later.

Gentleman's Gentlecat and Budapest

Since it has been too cold to sketch outside, I am sketching from some photos I took of the parliament building in Budapest in 2008.
It is a fascinating city. It almost looks like something out of a fantasy landscape with giant statues popping up all over in almost Númenórean ways.

Our gentleman’s gentlecat is finally getting his due! Our tuxedo cat Spike...

Knee deep in book trailers and my next picture book. Enjoy these offerings from the sketchbook!

One More NYC Sketch: Brooklyn

Sketch of the entrance to Prospect Park in Brooklyn (the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch). My second cousin owns a restaurant a couple blocks away called Sun in Bloom. (There are restaurant pics in the earlier post...)

We strolled in the park for several hours.
