Write-Up on WGUC blog

Even though the workshop is sold out, I will have books and mini-palettes there for sale and will be signing books at 3:30.

Nice write-up on the WGUC website. Mostly about the PLAZA workshop on Saturday and my show at Clermont College.

Final Week

It has been a whirlwind! Even though the book is funded, the Kickstarter lasts for one more week!

We have unveiled some cool SKETCH goals! I really hope we unlock the $10.000 one for the PDF booklet on palettes. I am already experimenting.

I am also donating a tree for each backer through One Tree Planted. They are a non-profit dedicated to reforestation. My friend Ryan Claytor did it for his Kickstarter and it is a fantastic idea!

I was on WVXU this week talking about Sketching Here & Everywhere and Books by the Banks. I will be there Saturday. Stop by!

I also have a show opening at Columbia Plaza on October 17th from 4-6.

Hope to see you there!

TOGETHER at Light Grey Art Lab

Materializing Spirits

I did this piece for Light Grey Art Lab's TOGETHER Residency Exhibition inspired by my artist residency in Norway.

We were Team Huldra. A Huldra is a tree spirit similar to a dryad. I love similar folklore. Humans have many common memories...

The framed print is for sale here.

May the Fourth Episode IV: A New Hope

Leia on the Death Star
This year's May the Fourth Celebration was a huge success. We had some of the best art ever and our first Kids Art Show at the Cincinnati Public Library.

These are the pieces I have in the show. The Leia piece was a digital demo for my NKU illustration students. It can be purchased here and a portion of the proceeds go to Force for Change. https://www.brewhouse.com/product-page/christina-wald-leia-on-the-death-star

Bea Arthur in Mos Eisley-The Star Wars Holiday Special
I tried out a different painting technique for my Bea Arthur. I have taught along David Michael Beck at the Art Academy for a couple years and designed to try out his mixed media technique for this illustration.

The big kids' show is up at Brew House until June 1st.

Jules Verne Show

Steam Powered by Christina Wald
I recently did a piece for the Jules Verne Expo in London. I chose The Steam House because the lure of illustrating a steam powered mechanical elephant was irresistible.

May the Fourth Be With You Star Wars Tribute Show

Tortured Dreams

Right before The Force Awakens came out, Kevin Necessary and I talked about doing a Star Wars tribute show. We knew at the time, we were too crazy busy to do it but the topic kept coming up and Kevin suggested having his good friends at Brew House host the show.

Fortunately for us, they were up for it! Next, we had to cajole our many busy artist friends to participate. We are overwhelmed with the results!

See the total artist list here:

https://www.facebook.com/events/1055581011181549/

Also, Anthony "Tank" Mansfield, Jaimie Filer, Justin Stewart and I will be making live art during the show.

The show is at Brew House on 1047 East McMillan from 6-1l.

I will be auctioning off my live art to Force for Change and BH will also be donating a portion of food and drink sales plus any other donations.

Most of the art on the wall is for sale too. I have five new Star Wars pieces up.

West End Star Wars Game Books with my art
It is fun to dip my toes into the Star Wars universe once again. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I did quite a bit of illustration for the Star Wars RPG for West End Games. Interior art and card inserts for 13 books to be exact. I only show 12 here because that makes a nice block and I cannot remember the last.

Hope to see everyone on the 4th!

A piece from Operation: Elrood; one of my favorites done all old school in marker, ink, pencil and airbrush
Nice coverage by WCPO here on their site!

Finally, every artist wrote a blurb about what Star Wars meant to them and a favorite quote. Here is mine:

I have some cool new pieces for the show but it the meantime, here is a cartoon I did with
"He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named"...

See you September 17th!
