I have been cleaning up my flat files and found a bunch of fun old articles! Cin Weekly, City Beat, The Guardian, and, of course, the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The cool jobs article was very fun. They sent a photographer to the house to take pictures of my studio.

Finally, urban sketching! 

I have a few more articles to scan and I need to get copies of some Enquirer articles I never got paper copies of.  It is odd, I rarely get the paper versions anymore.

I just joined the Urban Sketchers Executive Board as Communications Director. I am looking forward to working with this team dedicated to make the world a better place through the practice of sketching!

Urban Sketching is a passion of mine and I am thrilled to serve in this capacity. Drawing the world around us unites people everywhere and with close to 600 chapters, the enthusiasm is growing. All you need is a drawing implement and a surface to draw on, it is a minimal barrier to entry.

On the Spot

Gabi Campanario, the founder of Urban Sketchers, has started his own publishing company called Sketcher Press which includes a wonderful storytelling magazine called On the Spot.

I pitched a story last year about my and Cincinnati's toy history and this article is the result.

The Bionic Hair Salon I played with as a kid. Turns out that having well-styled hair is as important as taking care of one's bionic components. I did the illustrations in marker in honor of all the marker renderings I did as a coop student at Kenner.

This ashtray illustration makes me laugh. When I first started dating Troy, I remember he and many other employees using the Easy Bake Oven pans as ashtrays.

It is a great trip down memory lane in some ways, and a sad loss of a Cincinnati institution in others. It was so interesting to research the story and write it. Gabi is a good editor.

I will be taking a group of sketchers and adventure lovers to Sicily in Spring 2027!

I loved working with Lisa in Tuscany and was stunned by how beautiful Sicily was. The Flower festival as so wonderful. It is a perfect place for a road trip.

Siracusa is possibly one of my favorite places to sketch last year and I look forward to sketching Taormina.
